Why we brought the brand back—and what we’re building now
Wristwatches don’t just tell time. They tell stories—about the people who wore them, the places they went, and the moments they marked. Starting in the UK in 1963, Chronosport was one of those brands: honest, rugged, built to serve, and ready for anything. And for decades, it quietly delivered some of the world’s most iconic tool watches to the wrists of racers, divers, pilots, and professionals who needed performance, not adornment.
Then, after a few decades, the signal faded. Chronosport went silent.
We have the privilege and responsibility to write the next chapter for a storied brand.
The Origin Story
Chronosport was founded in 1963 by P.T. “Pat” Barnard in Bath, England. He wasn’t a watchmaker, but something rarer—a natural connector with a sharp eye and boundless energy. Through friends in the watch trade and ties to racing, diving, and aviation, he saw a different path forward. By selling directly—through mail-order and in-person contact—he bypassed traditional dealers and brought well-made watches to the people who actually used them. He didn’t create a new market. But with vision and volition, he quietly reshaped it.
And he didn’t do it alone. Pat had a circle of collaborators—makers, racers, divers, engineers, adventurers—each focused on building something useful and lasting. He forged deep relationships with founders like Willy Breitling, Jack Heuer, and other premier watchmakers of the era. These weren’t transactional relationships; they were friendships forged in shared interest and effort. It’s been said, “Pals are friends who don’t keep score.” That’s the spirit Chronosport was born from—a community of doers who supported each other, swapping parts, contacts, and stories, solving problems, and getting the job done.
In 1970, Pat put his name on the dial. Chronosport-branded watches arrived, sharing the same DNA and built by the same Swiss manufacturers behind many of the era’s iconic timepieces. These were precision tools for those pushing the envelope—built to be used. And to perform.
Writing the Next Chapter
We’ve brought Chronosport back because that spirit still matters. In a world where signal and noise are hard to differentiate, there’s a quiet rebellion in building something that doesn’t chase attention—just what resonates. Honest. Solid. That’s what we’re doing in Tulsa.
We’re here as stewards of the Chronosport name, ready to write the next chapter—together. Our new designs are built in the spirit of the originals. And when it comes to reissuing the icons (we can’t wait!), we’ll ask you what should come back first. After all, this story’s never been told solo.
What matters to us is staying true to the spirit that’s always defined Chronosport: honest design, solid construction, and tools built to last.
Chronosport is ready to soar again. Join us. You are cleared for takeoff.
